OMJ have been awarded a 5 year framework contract with the largest gas network operator in the UK, Cadent Gas.

Cadent Gas owns, operates and maintains the largest natural gas distribution network in the United Kingdom, transporting gas to 11 million homes and businesses across West Midlands, North West England, East of England and North London.

The contract award is part of a larger national roll out programme to replace ageing metallic gas pipes within the regulator OFGEM’s RIIO 2 price control period. The award will position OMJ as a key strategic partner within the North London Region where the company has already successfully established themselves in recent years, having built up strong collaborative working relationships with highway authorities and local communities along the M3 and M4 corridors.

Speaking following the recent success, OMJ Managing Partner, Mark Jordan cited the company’s existing and future commitments to collaborative partnering, customer experience, corporate sustainability and also to a green circular economy as being instrumental in achieving tender success. Mark acknowledged that the investment in providing these improved and more sustainable business operating models is best facilitated by longer term framework contracts of this nature.

OMJ commence the new framework contract in April 2021 and invite expressions of interest from supply chain partners over the coming months. Tailored commercial packages are available for suitable individuals and sub-contractors who demonstrate a passion and commitment for customer experience and who are appropriately skilled and competent in gas mains replacement engineering work. Immediate starts are now available while further engineering and management positions will be advertised over the coming months. 

As part of our current work programmes being undertaken within the Bracknell Forest borough, OMJ have reached out to local charities and community groups to offer donations and to explore community engagement initiatives with local representatives.

OMJ’s Operations Support Officer, Hannah Seeley, this week made a visit to the offices of Home Start to make a donation on our behalf. A further virtual presentation was also made to Action for Children. Hannah Seeley commented “It is great to be able to give something back to the communities within which we work particularly where it involves helping those more disadvantaged or vulnerable within our society. We have enjoyed the opportunity to contribute to children charities specifically, particularly in the lead up to this festive period.”

OMJ extend our festive greetings to all customers, suppliers and partners and to all those within the communities where we are or have recently been carrying out utility engineering upgrade works.

As part of the company Quality Assurance Programme, OMJ conducted another recent phase of audits on our Gas Mains Replacement teams working on the Cadent network. The award for highest performing team went to Tom Harrison and Kellan Thatcher. The pair have been involved in the execution of a number of tricky project assignments in recent weeks and despite challenging conditions, the pair demonstrated a high level of due care and attention to successfully complete the projects on programme and to also achieve a 99% scoring in their Team Performance Audit in the process.

To recognise their performance and continued commitment to working safely and to complement OMJ’s Health & Wellbeing programme the pair were awarded with a certificate and a spending voucher for JB Sports.

OMJ have commenced an extensive gas main replacement contract in the Bracknell Forest area.

The works have been ongoing from September 2020 and entail the replacement of ageing metallic pipes with new polyethylene mains and service connection pipework.

The works which are government mandated involve civil, mechanical and a small element of electrical engineering and contributes to a nationwide replacement programme. All works are carried out under procedures compliant with current government guidance on COVID-19.

 

Representing the client for the rollout programme, Chris Williams commented,

The current contract is programmed for completion in March, 2021
